Check the candidate carefully
Look for galleries, article updates and a changed caption. Confirm that you opened the source page rather than an unrelated advertisement. Do not bypass authentication or access restrictions to chase a cached image.
Record the mismatch
- Save the result URL and the live page URL.
- Note the date you observed the preview.
- Describe whether the image is absent, changed or inaccessible.
- Search a legitimate alternative publication if needed.
A shop may replace a product photograph while a search service still shows the old thumbnail. That observation says something about freshness, not necessarily dishonesty.
Decide what the evidence supports
If the live page no longer contains the image, avoid claiming it currently publishes it. Keep any retained screenshot in its time context. For a removal request or rights review, distinguish what you personally observed from what a search preview suggested.
