Is that recruiter a real person?
Fake recruiters and “investors” use stolen or generated headshots. Upload the profile photo and see where that face appears, and under which names.
Fake professional profiles are getting better
A polished headshot and a big-company job title are cheap to fake. The face is the part you can check.
A job offer you didn’t apply for
Especially remote roles with high pay, quick interviews over chat and requests for ID or fees.
Few connections, perfect photo
A new profile with a studio-quality headshot and a senior title.
An investor in a hurry
Investment or crypto opportunities from someone you have never met.
A slightly unreal headshot
Odd earrings, blurred hair edges or a smooth background can mean an AI-generated face.

Save the headshot
Open the profile photo and screenshot it at full size.
Search with the name
Add the name on the profile. Pages that mention it are ranked higher, so a real match is easy to spot.
Check the employer
Look for the same face on the company’s own site, conference bios or news.
What you can find out
Results link to their source pages, so you can confirm a career or catch a fake.
A matching professional footprint
Company team pages, talks and articles showing the same face and name.
A borrowed headshot
The same photo on a stock site or another person’s profile.
No trace anywhere
A possible sign of an AI-generated face. Read our guide to AI image checks.
Results show public web pages only. A match is a lead to check, not proof of identity.
Verify a professional contact in five minutes
Search the headshot with the name from the profile. If the face appears on the employer’s team page or in a conference programme under the same name, that is strong confirmation.
Then check the employer independently: find the company’s website yourself rather than following links in messages, and if in doubt contact the company through its published details to confirm the person works there.
Never pay for equipment, training or “onboarding” for a job, and never share ID documents before you have confirmed the employer directly. See checking a job ad’s company photo for more.

Questions people ask
Can Facehunch search LinkedIn directly?
Facehunch searches public web pages for the same face. Public profile pages may be indexed, but the most useful confirmations usually come from company sites, talks and news.
Can it detect AI-generated headshots?
Not directly. A generated face usually has no other appearances online, which is a useful signal, but an empty result can also mean a private person.
Will the person know I checked?
No. Facehunch never contacts the person in the photo.
Can I use this for hiring decisions?
No. Facehunch is not a screening service. Use it to spot obvious fraud, not to make employment decisions about a person.
