Define a narrow question
Searching for unauthorised use of your own picture is different from building a profile of another person. Start with the concrete issue: an image copied into an impersonation account, a source you need to credit, or a public professional page you were given permission to verify.
Keep the question narrow enough that you know when to stop. An image search should not become an invitation to collect unrelated addresses, relatives, contact details or personal histories.
Inspect the public source
Open a result and confirm that the image appears on the page. Read its caption and the page’s purpose. A personal account, parody account, press article and fan page can all use the same picture in different ways. Search thumbnails often hide those distinctions.
If a page links to another account, that is a useful lead. Prefer links published by the account owner over your own guess based on matching avatars. Even a self-published cross-link should be checked for context and whether the page appears current.
Keep conclusions at the right level
- Same file. You found a copy of the picture.
- Similar portrait. The engine returned a visually related candidate.
- Explicit source claim. The page states who is pictured or who owns the account.
- Verified connection. Independent evidence supports the relationship relevant to your question.
Do not skip from the second level to the fourth. Two people can resemble each other, and one image can be used by many unrelated accounts.
Handle restricted or missing pages
A private page or a login wall is a boundary, not proof that the result is suspicious. Do not seek tools that claim to bypass it. If the page cannot be reviewed, mark it unverified. For ordinary reconnection, asking for a profile link or using a mutual contact is often clearer.
