Define the audit
Choose a small number of past avatars you own. Record where you remember publishing each one and keep that expected-source list beside the search results.
Review unfamiliar uses
- Search each original image separately.
- Open unfamiliar source pages.
- Distinguish your old accounts from third-party reuse.
- Record the page, caption and observation date.
An old conference biography may still use your previous headshot with permission. A different account presenting the picture as its own portrait is a separate concern. The same image can appear in both contexts.
Choose the appropriate action
Update or remove your own abandoned profiles through their normal settings. For a third-party use, check the site's contact or reporting process and explain the specific issue. Do not assume every outdated photograph is impersonation. Keep the original files and relevant permissions so you can distinguish unwanted reuse from previously authorised publication.
